Design Core - Putt-Putt Hole

I was able to live out every kids dream, well at least my brothers and I, of designing and building a putt-putt hole. Working along some talented individuals, we were able to express what Detroit’s great legacy meant to us.

The Challenge
Design Core asked Us to create a single putt-putt hole that embodies Detroit culture and inspires the creation of art within our communities. It would be showcased at two events: Eastern Market After Dark and Light up Livernois.

Eastern Market After Dark

A celebration of design within Detroit. The nation’s oldest public market space transforms into a creative district. More than 30 studios and galleries will open late throughout the area. The space will be lined with interactive experiences, brand activations, designer spotlights, installations, and parties.

Light Up Livernois

A celebration of design and creativity. Located on the historic Avenue of Fashion. Makers, artists and designers from Detroit are collaborating with local small businesses to shop, dine and explore the various ways design surrounds us in our everyday lives. This event is of typically part of the 2018 Month of Design Program. Organized by Design Core Detroit and Explore Livernois.

Our Idea
Detroit is a melting pot of people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. Keeping with the theme of culture and Detroit, this putt-putt green would challenge players to gain a new perspective on Detroit by using 3D anamorphic typography to highlight the reality of its many pieces.

Unite
The word unite, to us, is a call to action to bring separated forms, ideas, and people together to become whole again. To encourage viewers to get involved and actively participate in the design community within Detroit.

And I think it’s safe to say we accomplished just that.
